fire & earth Massage Academy Frequently Asked Questions

Learn from the Sports Massage Experts!
Our next course starts 5th October 2024.
Do I need to have massage experience to attend?
No – Not for Level 3 as this is an entry level into the sports massage industry. From here you can then progress onto a level 4 or 5 if you wish. You do need to be over 16 years old, however.
How much homework is there?
For the level 3 diploma, there is quite a lot of homework, both practical and theory-based. We estimate around 10 hours of theory per month and to hit your target of 50 hours of practical massage this would work out at 2 hours per week.

For level 4 there are around 2 hours of homework per month with the theory for assessments being estimated at around 5 hours per month.
How long are the days?
We run our courses over a full weekend - Saturday and Sunday once per month. Each day is 9.30 am - 4.30 pm. The first day of the course is the only day we will start at 9 am. The exam day will be a 9 am start also.

How much hands on teaching will I get?
A lot! We have created courses that are focused on giving you the best possible experience of actual massage or assessment for level 4. You will have practical hands-on time every day of your course. Small groups allow us to spend a lot of time giving you feedback and finessing your skills.
What do I need to wear?
Comfortable clothes, a gym kit is ideal, and bring shorts. We do supply a t-shirt that we will ask you to wear but gym or comfortable bottoms are fine.
What happens if I fail my exam?
You will have numerous opportunities to re-sit your exam. You can do this for free for 3 occasions. After this a fee will apply.
Is the course accredited?
Yes. We are accredited with Active IQ, which means it is recognised throughout the UK and some European countries.

Where can I go once I am qualified?
There are a lot of options from working mobile to working in a clinic or spa. We will run through the best options for you in our business module. Further training via CPD workshops and courses is vital for you to upskill annually. Once qualified as a level 3 or 4 you can then choose to go onto a level 4 or 5 sports massage qualification respectively.
The time has never been better to make a difference
and become a sports massage therapist.
