I have been in an office job for the last 21 years and, after re-evaluating my career choices during the pandemic, I decided I wanted to do a job in an industry that helps people, which was my original desire when I was 18. I am an active tennis player, the effects of which led me to require sports massage therapy from Fire & Earth. As a Client, I receive the newsletter each week and it was here that I read about the Level 3 Sports Massage Therapy course offered by the Fire & Earth Massage Academy.
I was a little apprehensive about signing up to start with due to the learning requirements, as it had been nearly 25 years since I left Uni, but after chatting it through with Tanya, she put my mind at ease and explained how the course works with a combination of both classroom learning and practical training from day 1. Yes there is homework to do but the training materials from both the classroom sessions and the manuals that activeIQ provide give you all the information that you need. The practical training is brilliant and both Tanya and John stress the importance of looking after yourself as a therapist, in terms of posture and techniques, to enable you to have a long and healthy career in this industry.
The added bonus of the business module is great, as Tanya gives advice on how to set-up your own business and the options available to practise successfully. I would definitely recommend this course to anyone interested in this area.

‘I had always known that sports massage therapy training would be on my long terms, it has always been something I wanted to do to advance the previous training I already had.
I chose Fire & Earth as I had been fortunate enough to previously know Tanya through her martial arts training, as well as receiving treatments from her throughout my years at Uni to present day.
Undergoing the course training was wonderful experience however impacted by the lockdown changes and regulations. The team did tremendously well in dealing with that and I personally felt that I was never secluded or alone in the process, even now.
Tanya and the team had an incredibly approachable aspect to their tutoring and always took on board the personal requirements needed of each student to keep us all on track. In regards to the course itself, I found the work incredibly manageable due to their tutoring styles and team effort.
I would highly recommend the Fire & Earth Academy as the support is ongoing for anyway you maybe looking to acquire and use an SMT qualification. They’re not just a team, they’re a family and it was a privilege training alongside them, I hope there are more times to come :)’

The reason i wanted to do sport massage was from my personal experience . I suffer years with stress headache 24 hours a day someone from my family from London said to try sports massage. I looked up on the internet and found Fire & Earth. After 2 months of coming every week it made a difference. At a session talking to my sport therapist I said I would not mind doing sport massage to help my community, as if you are a bapast sikh, women found it hard or embarrassing. I was then told about the course they were running.
The reason I chose Fire & Earth was because of how I had been treated when I was client. How professional they were and also caring.
I would definitely recommend this course with Fire & Earth. I am a really shy person, not a lot of confidence, but they were so professional and supported me through the course. Any issue or something I did not understand John was great at explaining. They were there to help you all the time. It was great to do the hand on practical as well.
